State Approval:
NDSS offers two New
Mexico Driver Improvement courses, a 6-hour course and an
8-hour course. If you receive a traffic ticket the court may
require you to complete a driver improvement course. The 6-hour
New Mexico Traffic School is state-approved to
fulfill this requirement. If your license was suspended through
the point system you will be required to take a driver
improvement course in order to reinstate your driver license.
The 8-hour New Mexico Driver Improvement Course is approved by
the New Mexico Traffic Safety Bureau to fulfill this
requirement.
Spanish Courses:
Both the Point Suspension and the Court-referred driver
improvement course are available in Spanish. Both of the Spanish
courses are state approved and are designed to take about 6
hours to complete.

Course- Point Suspension
• This course is designed for individuals whose licenses were suspended
through the point system.
New Mexico Driver Improvement Course- Court-referred
• This course is approved for ticket dismissal.
Nuevo México Curso de Mejoramiento- Versión Español (Ordenado
por la Corte)
• Éste curso de 6 horas es aprobado en Nuevo México para cumplir el
mejoramiento de conductor como a ordenado la corte, para
despedir la multa de tráfico.
Curso para el Mejoramiento de Conductores en Nuevo México-
Versión en Español (Suspensión de Puntos)
• Éste curso de 6 horas es aprobado en Nuevo México para cumplir con el
requisito para el mejoramiento de conductores ordenado por La
Oficina de Seguridad de Tráfico de NM, si su licencia ha sido
suspendida por medio de el sistema de puntos.
Course Information:
The New Mexico
Traffic School
courses are each divided into 12 chapters. After each chapter,
you will be required to take a short quiz that tests your
knowledge of the previous material. These quizzes will help you
figure out which material you need to review before the final
exam.
Final Exam:
You must take your final exam at an
approved testing center. You only need to answer 70% of the
questions correctly in order to pass the course. You may take
the final exam as many times as you need in order to do so.
Completion Certificate:
Once you pass the final exam your
Certificate of Completion will be processed. At the end of each
course there are specific instructions that state when you will
receive your Certificate of Completion and explain the manner in
which it must be delivered to the court.
